Here is a compilation of teachings from several entities in human and energetic forms, who describe various spiritual tools, practices and their uses and abuses. This post will address this question: Do we need spiritual tools, objects or rituals?
What kind of spiritual tools are there?
The “spiritual tools” available to us include a variety of traditional or informal practices, rituals and objects inspired by religions and various ancient wisdom teachings. They include:
- Affirmations, altars/shrines, aroma therapy, breath work, chanting, crystals, stones, contemplation, divination, drumming, dancing, fasting, essential oils, sprays, meditation, martial arts, monastic life, music, offerings, oracles, prayer, pilgrimage, retreats, yoga, etc.
- Different people may gravitate to different tools, depending on their spiritual type. Some activities may be solitary, while others are done with groups of people.
These tools are ways to change our awareness, to ground us, clear our field or “reset” our frequency higher, which helps us remember the greater reality and connect the “you” here with who you really are (Higher Self).
Where do spiritual tools come from?
The universe is teeming with galactic civilizations at various stages of evolution. Lyssa Royal (channeling “Germane”) said that all species have “homesickness” or a desire to go back Home or unite with Source. She described the ancient star system called Lyra, where the first incarnational cycle began. She said 99% of us have had lifetimes in Lyra, which had two civilizations that had many wars between them:
- The original Lyrans were externally focused pioneers and explorers, who colonized many planets and built empires. They represent the yang or masculine principle. Their prime directive was separation from Source.
- The Vegans split off from the Lyrans, because they wanted to explore other ways of being, not separation. They were supposed to represent the internally focused yin or feminine principle. But since they were in such a rush to go back Home, their “yin” was distorted. It became masculine energy in disguise, cut off from the feminine flow of the universe.
Nevertheless, Vegan mysticism made a huge impact in our galaxy and spread to other civilizations, including the Earth. The Vegans were very adept at developing spiritual technology, such as devices, crystals, various uses for the power of sound (mantras, chanting OM, healing, etc.), consciousness projection technics and other methods to try to accelerate their spiritual growth. She explained:
- They believed in self-sacrifice, asceticism, self-discipline, self-punishing practices and purification technics (using diet, breath, meditation, yoga, alone time, etc.) as ways to control their ego (as exemplified by the Vulcan “Mr. Spock” in the old StarTrek TV series and movies).
- They also valued their intellect (logic/reason) over their emotions and desires (for sex, joy, happiness in life) that were repressed. This led to problems like self-limitation, self-judgment, guilt, shame and martyrhood. They were enslaved by their over-controlled and unbalanced mental and emotional patterns.
The problem for all incarnate beings is that our ego tends to become attracted, attached or addicted to low frequency thoughts, behaviors and actions, when we’re in the physical universe. That’s what karma is.
- The Vegans became attached and addicted to their external devices, processes or principles, because they believed that was the key to their evolution. They didn’t realize that the device or process itself was meaningless. All spiritual tools are neutral, and they can be used in a balanced way or an addictive way.
- Interestingly, she said that while it may seem that accelerating your spiritual evolution is within your control, it really isn’t, because everything flows with the timing of the universe. That’s what young civilizations eventually learn. This applies to all of us on Earth right now.
Many of us are looking for short cuts to spiritual development, to evolve faster and get out of here. 😉 But it’s not about adding more tools to your spiritual toolbox, it’s about emptying the toolbox you have and letting go of devices and aids. Why? Because now you’re meant to move into your own consciousness and navigate it without external aids. That’s where self-realization or spiritual evolution really happens.
Do we need spiritual tools, objects or rituals?
The answer is yes, no, maybe so. Darryl Anka channels the Essassani entity called “Bashar” (who is his future self). In a recent interview, he said that all tools, all technics, all rituals, all formats, all objects are permission slips that we’re using. We’re attracting ourselves to these tools, technics, rituals, because they happen to be in alignment with the belief system we have. He explained:
- For some reason, we believe in our belief system we need to use this tool to give ourselves permission to be more of who we are. It’s NOT that permission slip, the ritual, object or practice that is really doing it, we’re doing it! But for some reason our belief system says we need this thing in order to give ourselves permission to be more of who we are. That’s fine, but basically what that means is that any permission slip can work. They’re all valid.
- If you think religion is your permission slip, that’s fine. If you think tarot cards, crystals or if nothing is your permission slip, that’s fine. But they’re all permission slips, because they’re all just representative of what your belief system is in alignment with, that will allow you to relax a limitation and give yourself permission to be more of who you are.
- So anything will work, and if you’re attracted to it, you’re attracted to it for a reason. It’s probably indicative of where you are in your belief system and what ritual will work best for you as a permission slip at the moment. That’s why you are attracted to it in that moment. And if you change your mind tomorrow and are attracted to something else, that’s because you’ve changed and now you’re attracted to a different permission slip.
But ultimately the idea is to understand that they are just permission slips, and you don’t necessarily need any of them to just give yourself permission to be more of who you are. It can just be a decision — that can be a sufficient permission slip. This is not about dismissing anybody’s belief systems, it’s about valuing their belief systems, because the point of being here is to experience and grow. That’s the process.
- At the same time, when you achieve a higher level of understanding, YOU realize, as part of your valid process, that you don’t necessarily need that permission slip anymore — in the same way as an adult, you don’t need the same kind of things you needed as a kid. But that doesn’t invalidate the fact that you needed them as a kid. It doesn’t dismiss them.
- It’s what got you to where you are, to the point where you realize you don’t need those things any more.
When Guy Needler was asked in some World Satsangas about the use of mantras, stones, crystals, saging or smudging, he said I don’t bother, because I know that I’m okay. I know that I can work with anything that’s there, if I need to. To summarize his comments:
- Some people need to have mantras, some people don’t need to have mantras. Some people must use different physical functions to create protection around themselves, like stones or crystals, for instance, or saging or smudging different parts of the room.
- Really it doesn’t matter as long as you feel that it works for you and it creates a safe environment for you. Whatever you use, if it makes you feel comfortable, it makes you feel safe, then fine, that’s okay. Basically, it’s a physical focus.
It’s a personal authority that we give ourselves to allow ourselves to be able to do this stuff. Anything that’s physical is really a crutch. It’s something that we use to say: Oh, I’ve got this, I’m now clean. I’ve got this, I now can do meditation. I’ve got this, I can do healing.
- It’s simply a physical interface we give ourselves permission to be able to do something. We don’t need it, simple as that. So a lot of this stuff about do this, do that, or do the other is really complete nonsense.
- If you’re the sort of individual, who is confident enough in your energetic functionality, then you don’t really need any of this at all, because you can do it and you don’t need to have something to focus on.
It’s a bit like the story about Merlin as a wizard. And when he was an apprentice, he said that there’s a number of different wizards who are using incantations or spells. There’s wizards who use their hands or an object, such as a staff, to be able to help them focus and project their energies. And there’s those who do it by pure thought.
- As the story goes, Merlin said I’m going to be a wizard of pure thought.
- But he couldn’t quite get there. He ended up being a mixture of an incantation and the use of the hands or a staff to be able to project his energy. So he got confused with the gross physical aspect of it and lost his confidence, and maybe the frequencies were a bit lower around him, which meant he had to do this sort of thing to be able to create a focus for himself.
Anything physical is an interface. If you’re using sage to smudge a room, or using crystals in various different corners of the room to disperse so-called low frequency energy, or to protect yourself from low frequency entities, then you’re using the crystals or the sage as an interface between you and your intention. You can use your intention to be clean and clear, and that the room you’re working with is clean and clear. And that’s good enough really.
- Like tarot cards, they’re a physical interface. Pendulums are a physical interface. Anything else, such as oils, such as balms, incense, they’re all physical interfaces that we sometimes lean on to assist us in our ability to link in with the higher frequencies associated with the multiversal environment or Source and its multiverse to be able to effect a better healing process and have a clean environment to do it.
- Another way is to use the Psychic Shield that’s on my website. You can project it around your house or your room and make that particular location clear as well. That’s quite a robust way. But having the intention to have the room clean and clear is usually a good enough, if you’ve got the confidence in doing that, fine.
- Simply chanting or creating a mantra is creating a focus. It’s just creating a focus and chanting whether it’s “Om” or other mantras associated with success or abundance is simply a way of focusing on it.
- Prayer is a very loose way of focusing on it as well. If you want to create a mantra, repeat it twelve times, because twelve is an auspicious number, because it repeats itself through the structure of the Origin. It would give you enough time to focus on what you’re doing and settle down. Some people need more repetition within their mantras or their chanting. Other people need less.
Anything that’s physical is simply a physical interface with the energetic and we don’t actually need it. It’s a way of saying that we’re physical beings and we need to have something physical to make something physical work. We don’t need to. We just need to know we can do it. And so having something that amplifies energies is actually detaching our sovereign ability from us and making ourselves lesser than we are.
- Anything that is physical is slow full stop. Anything that is sentience-based is at the optimal speed full stop. For example, with so-called “light language activations,” we’re giving ourselves permission basically to open up to a higher frequency and that’s it. It’s simply a key. You say: Oh, I’ve done a sort of light language activation, I can now communicate on that level. Well, you’ve always been able to do that, it’s just that you denied yourself the opportunity, because you limited yourself based upon your human condition. That’s it.
- It’s something we as human beings like to have to give ourselves permission and say we can do this now. It’s like getting your drivers’ license or becoming a reiki healer. You don’t need to pass an exam to be able to drive a car, but it gives you permission to drive a car.
So my thought processes are why would you buy something that you don’t need to have? That would go the same for things like hilo crystals, rare earth metals, pendulums, various different types of cards as well. We don’t need them. Just meditate and work hard on meditating and work hard on making yourself pure and then you’ll be able to connect with these different energies and work with them in the same way as these devices purport to be able to work with them.
If you want to use those things as a very mechanical means, as a way of allowing yourself to be unlocked, fine. Simply just tell yourself you can do it and know you can do it. Feel you can do it. Visualize yourself you can do it. Create a level of abundance surrounding that ability to do it and you will do it. It’s simply removing the doubt, removing the limiting thought process.
Final Thoughts
I hope this post gives you a better idea of what you’re really capable of. Don’t dim your light, don’t limit yourself with belief systems that you have outgrown. Be the Merlin in your own life! Be the creator entity in training that you truly are. Here is further guidance from our Source/God:
“Think of your time for meditation, study of spiritual text and self-review or contemplation as being sacred, the most important thing you have to do. Let nothing take preference.
Progressing spiritually is not hard, maintaining the commitment and ignoring the distractions of the physical world is though and can really test an incarnate being. Be brave, be committed and be devoted to your progression, your ascension, your communion with your creator.“ – Source (via Guy Needler)

Thanks for your comment, Lawrence. Clearly, the need for tools depends on many things, including the person’s imprinting, conditioning, belief systems, level of awakening, the overall frequency on Earth and their locale in particular, etc. etc. Everybody is walking their own path at their own pace. The point I was trying to make is that we need to give ourselves permission to be more than what most of us realize.
As Wendy Kennedy told us, as we move into 2019, it’s going to feel more chaotic. Some of us have the awareness of what’s happening, but most people don’t. They think the world is off its rocker and everybody is crazy and very polarized. It’s very easy to feel overwhelmed by it all. We need to be able to stand in calm in the midst of chaos using whatever tools we already have or need (or not). We need to hold that calm space for others, so they can heal. We can do it very quickly now, we can reset ourselves in minutes, not days or weeks as in the past.
“We’re all just walking each other Home.” – Ram Dass
IMO, if one can not measure (A) where one is “A” At … (B) where one wants to “B” Be and (C) how one can want to … learn how to “C” Change to move (transition) from A to Be. If the M.A.P. (My Ascension Plan) on this transcending process is not clarified – in simple to understand methods” – the frustration of confusion and lack of having a simple map “delineating” progress while moving into the different Spiritual States of Being would be totally overwhelming.
And one’s individual M.A.P. must include a number of processes, procedures, rituals and meditation methodologies that are proven “to work” in today’s real world of reality.
If you have any questions I would be delighted to discuss them with you.
Best Regards in this Incredibly Important Undertaking.
