What Is a Spiritual Mastermind Group?

Previously, we talked about the difference between an intentional community vs. a cult. Many people are interested in keeping good company with like-minded individuals. But with the pandemic resurging in most countries around the world, this is not the ideal time for any face-to-face meetings or gatherings. Is there a way around that? Yes! Here is how we can connect, commune and collaborate in a brand new way in these challenging times that are paving the way for a new reality for us. What is a Spiritual Mastermind Group?

There is nothing more powerful than an idea whose time has come. – Victor Hugo

What Is a Mastermind Group?

The idea was popularized—though not originated—by best-selling author Napoleon Hill in his books, The Law of Success and Think and Grow Rich. In his words, a Mastermind group is:

“A friendly alliance with one or more persons who will encourage one to follow through with both plan and purpose.”

A Mastermind group consists of a small group of people (usually 3-6 people) who want to grow in some capacity at an accelerated rate and actually do grow at an accelerated rate of spiritual growth. The group will typically come together around a similar vision. Because of this, they commit to getting together regularly—online or in person—to discuss goals, get support and advice for their challenges, and build a network of like-minded people who keep the group and the individuals accountable and help them to grow.

What are the benefits of a Spiritual Mastermind Group?

In a spiritual mastermind group, the focus is on spirituality, to bring more spirituality into our lives, at home, at work, and in social situations. These meetings have a wonderful synergy of commitment and energy with a logarithmic effect on improvements mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually for several reasons:

  1. Mutual support. The group forms around a specific activity that may include differing goals or aspects of life, but all group members can lean on each other for support in a safe and neutral environment. They don’t all need to be at the same level of spiritual development. Those at higher levels will pull up those at lower levels by association. They focus on the success of each individual person in the group as a whole.
  2. Differing perspectives. Hearing the different views that fellow participants have allows them to see novel perspectives on issues they wouldn’t otherwise have become aware of. It’s diversity in action.
  3. Resources. Everyone in the group has access to a very different skill set and network of people.

What is our group like?

Our group is made of three people, who couldn’t be more different even if we tried! We have one male and two females. Our age range is from late 20s to early 70s. We live in three different states in three different time zones in the US. That means our energies triangulate across the entire country (see Featured Image).

We also differ in terms of our country of origin, religion, education, jobs held and political persuasion. Under normal circumstances, we wouldn’t likely meet or talk to each other. We didn’t even know what all of us looked like, when we started the group, because we had just communicated by emails and phone calls. None of that mattered, because we were determined to grow spiritually with the help of each other and with the power of the group.

So what brought us together? Our mutual interest in learning more about the greater reality and our role in it, as described in my blog based mostly on Guy Needler’s extensive body of work. That’s what brought us together. Of course, our guides had something to do with it as well! And the benefits we and our loved ones receive keep us together. There is so much more that happens that we’re not even aware of, because this energy spills out into all areas of our lives.

What happens in a typical meeting?

Our Mastermind group meets once a week for about half an hour. That’s all it takes! We do it by phone, but you could do it by Zoom, FaceTime or a similar platform. Here’s what we do:

  • Group intention. One person leads a short opening meditation or prayer to focus our intention as a group. The audio recording is started, so that members can review it later as needed.
  • Check-in. What is the spiritual or material issue(s) you would like to get help with this week? Each member states a couple of questions for other members to consider.
  • Connect to higher frequencies. This is a short visualization based on Guy Needler’s “Traversing The Frequencies” method of using an elevator to take the group to the top of the multiverse (FB 408, where we ask our guides, helpers, Higher Selves and Source to connect, commune and collaborate with us).
  • Start timed group meditation. The time varies from 5-10 min as agreed. Each person is working independently in silence to “channel” information to answer the questions posed. They can record it by handwriting, typing in a computer or speaking into a recording device.
  • Discussion. Each person takes a turn to describe what they received as guidance for each person’s issues or questions. This is the most illuminating part that can take 10-15 min or as needed.
  • Final perspective. We briefly state what guidance was particularly helpful, spot on or insightful for our own or other people’s issues, and what action steps we are going to take to implement the guidance received.
  • Closing. One person leads an abbreviated closing prayer (e.g. St. Francis, “Lord, make me an instrument of your peace”) to close the meeting.

That’s right. All of that is covered in 35 minutes (for a group with three people; it may be longer for more members). Once per week.

Final Thoughts

Our group has been meeting weekly since July 2020. The guidance we receive is amazingly clear, pertinent and sometimes absolutely mind blowing! Often the messages are so touching that it causes us to laugh with tremendous joy or cry tears of truth, as we realize how beautifully Spirit works through us and with us every time we ask for help. Here are our individual “testimonials:”

Our weekly meeting helps immensely in keeping my frequency resonating high. Coming together for the greatest purpose to communicate with divinity. When we unite and collaborate we are strengthening our personal temple, our awareness, our channel to receive knowledge and love from the creator. – Member in PA

Usually the guidance given to one person is validated by the words, images and/or concepts given to another person about the same issue. We always leave the meeting with a greater appreciation for each other, the group and Spirit. It allows us to live the higher values embodied in Unity in Diversity. – Member in CA

We learn at every encounter. We teach at every encounter. And when we teach, connect, commune and collaborate, we move upwards and forwards. We get the job done together and evolve into more compassionate, loving and kinder souls as a result of the experience. – Member in MN

We highly recommend that YOU form a similar group of people to connect, commune and collaborate with. It is teaching us to work together both individually and collectively, no matter what our differences may be. They seem so irrelevant, like the color of the shirt you wore yesterday, when we work together in Spirit.

We are in a grand experiment with individualized free will, which means that each of us is an individualized unit of Source, who is an equally beloved part of the whole. Our unique perspective is exactly what we are here to share with our fellow human beings and Source. And so it is.
