Can Ascended Masters Have Dark Lives?

Here is a question I asked in the April 28, 2018 World Satsanga with Guy Needler’s answer about some incarnations of “ascended masters.” Can ascended masters have dark lives? What separates a master from a mass murderer?

Can ascended masters have dark lives?

Some people have a hard time believing that Columbus was an incarnation of an “ascended” master given his record of slavery and slaughtering people in the New World. How do you explain that? Do these ascended masters have “dark lives” or “fully immersed lives” as part of their human experience?

Guy Needler: “Well, if you think of one of the ascended masters [Lady Lotus from our Source or SE1] incarnating as Queen Elizabeth I, then you’ll realize that they do have immersed lives. Sometimes they have to work in the way that’s expected of the time and some of these times are quite brutal. I mean Queen Elizabeth I was quite brutal as a leader — and sometimes to make things change or to make people work in a specific way, you have to work in quite a forceful way.

For instance, Sri Yukteswar was a hard teacher. Paramahansa Yogananda always stated that he was a much more benevolent teacher, but he was very hard on his first line students as well. So it just depends upon when they incarnate and what they’re trying to do, i.e. what they’re trying to expand the population of incarnate human vehicles into in various different parts of the world — create different environments or expand technologies or expand thought processes or change the direction of the way we work.

They aren’t always portrayed as being in a benevolent human vehicle or a benevolent role, so there are ascended masters, who have particularly dark incarnations. Also there are ascended masters, who in their level of immersion of their incarnation decide NOT to be in communication with their True Energetic Self [Higher Self/Oversoul], so they have no idea who and what they are and what they have achieved in previous incarnations and their lineage and the way they have been of service to humankind.

So you have to think of it that they are also souls or Aspects of a True Energetic Self, and they also have to experience all the different functions of incarnate existence as well — not just being a very benevolent, very service-oriented individualized form of sentience that is projected into a human form or other form that is being of service. Sometimes they have to experience the yin to the yang as well.

Okay, don’t be shocked if you see many other ascended masters, who are or have experienced an incarnation that is considered to be a little bit “dark.” I would imagine that the book I’m going to write later, one of my last books, that goes into antichrists is going to be quite illuminating in that respect” (see Transcript: World Satsanga 28 04 2018).

What separates a master from a mass murderer?

In a word, frequency. There is a whole spectrum of consciousness with many shadow states at the lower frequency levels and divine gift or siddhi states at the higher frequency levels.

If a person’s life is focused on material ambition or seeking power, wealth, control, authority, domination, etc., their life will reflect those goals (e.g. ruler, empire builder).
If the life is about spiritual ambition, they may become awake and aware and better connected with their Higher Self, and their life will look very different (e.g. saint, guru).

For example, Master El Morya comes from a True Energetic Self that is part of our Source (SE1). Some of his other incarnations are shown in the image (below), which include several kings, rulers or statesmen as well as magi, saints or spiritual teachers. They’re all happening in the Now (not in linear time).

How does history view these lives?

That depends on who writes the history books. Was the powerful Mughal emperor Akbar Great or Not-So-Great? Ask a Hindu, a Muslim and a secular person and you will likely get different views about his legacy. Similarly, Columbus is a hero to some people and a villain to others.

In 1901, Richard M. Bucke (“Cosmic Consciousness”) studied 36 cases, including Buddha, Jesus, Mohammed and many other famous and lay people, who had evolved from self-consciousness to cosmic consciousness (God realization) during their lifetime.
He noted that not all cases were on the same plane. Just because a man has reached a new phase of cosmic consciousness, it doesn’t mean that he is omniscient or infallible.
He said it takes time to master this added faculty, although they all see the new world for what it is whatever era or culture they live in.

Some masters are born with more sentience and connectivity with their Higher Self to begin with. For example, Jesus was not just one soul but a composite hybrid soul that combined the skills and abilities of several souls from his Higher Self for his world mission. It was teamwork!

But even Jesus had to develop himself to have the “Christ consciousness” state personified within him, so he could jumpstart our frequency at a low point in our history.
Other masters may be magnetic spiritual teachers despite their unhealed personal issues (e.g. Chögyam Trungpa, an alcoholic Buddhist master). Their Presence can still influence the people around them in a positive way towards their awakening and enlightenment.
